Are We Merciful?

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

“Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.”

Here we are smack in Lent. And Lent is a time when we ask God for . . . what? MERCY.

Jesus keeps hammering us about how we are to treat others. How if we want forgiveness we have to forgive. If we want Mercy we must show Mercy.

We tend to be more concerned normally with what we get – not so much what we give.

Jesus says, “For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”

So, we better show Mercy if we want Mercy.

At least that’s what I heard Him say…
